• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

In order to post a new topic - or reply to existing ones - you may join and become a member by clicking on Register New User. It's completely free and only requires a working email address (in order to confirm your registration - it will never be given away!). We strive to make this a friendly and informative forum for anyone interested in pipe organs and organ music.

Recording in Turku (Åbo) Cathedral.

hi!

Here is an organ recording, I have done in Turku Cathedral (Finland) this week, would be very exciting to hear what the "pros" have to say about the recording. I've used DPA 4003, SE 4400a microphones.

I was looking forward to listening to your link, but unfortunately I was unable to open it. It may be a fault with my media player.

Teddy :... did you see that yiou had to click the mp3 link there also....mine worked fine with Windiows media player

Jan.. very enjoyable improv... The first section is very majestic and full sounding .Love the sound of the organ with that long reverb. I can see this part as a Pontifical Procession or Festive Prelude........ middle section up to 6:00 I am not sure.. maybe a concert type selection kinda reminded me of a sortie type composition.... from 6:00 on I really like the full conclusion as can see this used as a Postlude processionial use i.e. Gradual, Pontifical, Well done. Thanks for posting.

Nice, nice sound, Janne ... impressive organ too - had to look it up on Martin Doering's site. For the rest of the member here, this organ is a IV/122 with 6,058 pipes.

We can always count on you, Janne, for splendid recordings like these ... always breathtaking and thrilling at the same time. Whomever is playing is also a very gifted organist who brings much excitement to the listeners ears.

There was rumble and noise in the background before? I hadn't noticed.

Janne, you have some of the cleanest and best recordings I've ever heard

Thanks for always giving us the best

Thank you for those words!

I'm so picky, before I am satisfied. I'll always hear the "small errors" :)
