Now, what about "Vegemite" - Yum, Yum Delicious

Gave it a listen... Colin, you should know I wouldn't like it. Tony's versions is just so much better and jazzier

I still like Trane's version, at least insofar as a "jazz treatment" of this song goes.

Hi Corno Dolce and Happy New Year to you and your family. I was just wondering what a "vegemite" is. Might it be some kind of vegetable concoction? Just wondering, that's all. If it is something to eat, I just hope you enjoy it. wk

If I may just make a comment:
In NZ it is the equivalent to Marmite "a spread and a flavouring for other dishes, be interesting to see what it is in Russia

Marval, you'll make an Englishman out of me yet! I am familiar with Trader Joe's having shopped there with my sister; she goes there often. Now that I know what "chow-chow" is, I can rest somewhat easier. I had thought it was some kind of pet food! Anyway, thanks for all the useful links you sent my way.

Hi Colin and thanx for the 411 on marmite; but what flavor spread is that? Is it like peanut butter or Nutella in this country?

Steve I have tried both vegomite and marmite and I would say the flavor is hmmmmmm.....let's see hmmmmmmmmm...........................well it's kind of..............hmmmmmmmmmmmmm ahhhhhhh well kind of like a SALT spread. Yeah that's it. Consistency of applebutter but tastes really very very very salty.

Remember a song from the early 80's ~ I think the group was called Men At Work and the song was Down Under. They comment about a Vegemite sandwhich.
    Here's a youtube of it:

Marmite/Vegemite are as Colin says very salty, some sort of yeast extract. If you do find any, start with spreading it very thin until you decide if you love it or hate it.
    Cheers MIKE.

Thanks Colin and Mike. I think I'll just stick to good old peanut butter as my spread of choice.

Hi Hawk and thanx for all the 411 on these 2 foods As I said to Colin and Mike, methinks I'll just stick--pun intended--to good old peanut butter and jelly.
