I am always suspicious of any one that claims to know a lot about anything it usually means they think they know a lot, but in this case Alban Berg (Martin) may be an expert and actually know an awful lot about classical music, :) what does baffle me is when a piece of music, ballet, opera whatever becomes universally acclaimed by the great unwashed the elitists say it is rubbish. Looking at AB’s profile I see there is nothing to say where he gets this knowledge from or what qualifies him to make these remarks, perhaps he would enlighten us. These remarks should not be taken as an attack on Martin I am just curious.

Spot on, Colin! Eider way, I think he should explain his position for the rest of us {you know, the "great unwashed"/hoi polloi}, don't you agree? :banghead: Like yourself, I'm curious as well.

Of course for Daniel Steel lovers or the Moonlight sonata lovers this is fine. Easy and direct music.
Martin

Easy to listen doesn't mean easy to play...

Easy access....Everyone can sing the Moonlight sonata...can you sing as easily Schönberg?...That was I was trying to tell you all the time. Please do not be offended...I just like dodecaphonical music so much and I became a defender of less known composers as Schreker, Myaskovsky, Zemlinsky...I have nothing against the swan lake but I DO NOT LIKE IT, PERIOD. Too easy music is not challenging for me...I prefer challenges...Do you like challenges? I do. I started listen to classical music when I was 12....I am 59! I listen at least 3 hours a day... It's just a question of age...LOL
Can I brag...saying "I am the oldest man here?" I'd prefer to be younger! I promise you...

Well....I'm the oldest guy here!

Choices in life...

I can't play Beethoven...I can't play piano at all! My father cut my lessons...but my brain is the best thing I have...

and Snow white is one of the most known stories for children, so is the ballet "Swan lake" and so is Daniel Steel for millions of American people...
Things in common?

Easy:

- The three of them are common and very well known,
- The three of them are simple...
- You don't know Danielle Steel..? I'm pretty sure many people know her here...

Sincerely,

Martin

Is it Daniel or Danielle Steele? You have used both forms. {I don't claim to know a lot of things, but I am sure that this person has to be of one gender or the other, no? }.
I guess you must be referencing the female American novelist Danielle Steele, right? Small wonder then that Snow White never heard of Daniel Steel as you miscited her name in one of your previous posts.

It is not about Frank Sinatra but about the song he sang then (he was young then..well...younger than me)...

As the son of a retired teacher, I am really offended by that remark, unless--of course--you are kidding! But somehow, I doubt that you are.
If you don't know anything, exactly what are you teaching, and to whom?

Well...Let's introduce myself...I am a Spanish and French teacher...But my first background was in Information systems...and I was working in this field for 26 years...I started teaching languages when I was 18 and was a hobby then...after I took some grammar courses to become better...But I always consider myself as an "improvised teacher" even if don't consider myself a bad teacher, students like my way of teaching..they often say I teach languages as mathematics and they are right...because my real background is very maths oriented...I analyze music the same way...That is why I enjoy so much dodecaphonic music.

My mother tonge is Spanish, I was born in Argentina, my second tongue is French, my mother was French and we always spoke French. She passed away 20 years ago. My father was British and I studied in a Scottish school.

I live in Quebec and I have been speaking in French for 27 years...With my wife I speak in Spanish, with John, my elder son, we speak in English and with Christopher, my younger, in French. Friday is my Russian day, I exchange with a student one hour of English one hour of Russian, he is Russian.

Now, you know more about me...My wife is a teacher also, much better than me! She has the background for it.

We have a little school...do you want to take a look?

www.langues-svp.com

in the suburbs of Montreal.

Sometimes I don't feel like a REAL/GOOD teacher...can you understand that?
I'm not insulting anybody! All professions are good if you like them...I like to teach but not always...Sometimes it is difficult when people are not receptive...

Best

One of the few troubles with forums is that it is so easy to get the wrong meaning of what someone posts
Один из немногих неприятностей с форумами в том, что это так легко получить неправильный смысл того, что кто-сообщений
