Magnificent. I am amazed that no one has commented on this until now. I love the so very soul enriching music of the Orthodox Church. Thank you for showing this great discovery to us.

Stirring stuff indeed Rob. I have only just seen it because you bumped it back up the list. Maybe it was ignored because Martin made himself unpopular and was subsequently banned. Not easy to do here.

And Martin appended something to himself which I brought attention to the forum - Go to the thread "A Great Man And Composer." I just went through that locked topic thread and was sad to see how it devolved into such nastiness - I hang my head in shame.............:bawl::bawl::bawl:

Oh, btw, Hilarion is a Metropolitan, just above Cardinal but just below the Patriarch...

While finding the above rendering very rich in tone as is all Russian music I think a little acknowledgement is due the Composer and the work , it has long been a favourite of mine, my late brother in law on his last visit to NZ gave me a CD by the Hungarian State Sym Orch and Festival Choir which is much lighter in tone but still just as good, it is interesting how much different the same works sound when performed by different ens/choir/orch etc.

CD I was reading the link in your sig on Solzhenitsyn I read his
The Gulag Archipelago many years ago but it still has the same effect on me, "A Great Man"

Br. Colin,

I am all the more enveloped by Solzhenitsyn's writing - He frankly states the problems plaguing Society as we know it.
