• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

In order to post a new topic - or reply to existing ones - you may join and become a member by clicking on Register New User. It's completely free and only requires a working email address (in order to confirm your registration - it will never be given away!). We strive to make this a friendly and informative forum for anyone interested in pipe organs and organ music.

Albinoni - Adagio in G minor

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can lay my hands on a copy of this music?.
It's been requested last minute for a Wedding and all copies that I can find on the net are shipping in 4-6 working days which is too late.

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers

Just curious Jonesey..... Gm adagio.... in a.... wedding ?!
I thought it was good for.... funerals.....

Yep - me too ... Bride's choice for signing the register.
It's actually a refreshing change to have someone pick some music - normally they just say 'oh, play whatever you want really' ... one of these days I'll play the theme from Match of the Day for them.

Hey there Jonesey!! - long time no see, how are you my friend?

Of course you do realise that the Albinoni was in fact a 20th century invention (at least that's my memory of the work).

Yeap it was a scandal, if I recall ok, a contemporary (then) Italian composer, that's why the score is not public domain.

Jonesey, I think the bride must look sad with this adagio singing at her wedding day...
But then again, why not?

I don't find it a sad work ... more sombre and thoughtful perhaps. Bride's choice - could have been some hideous heavy metal horror!

Hello CT64 - I'm doing well thanks ... playing more and more which is great. Tomorrow is the start of the Wedding season for me.
Also practising hard for the BIG service in a couple of months when I'll be playing the wonderful piece Jean-Paul composed for me.

All in all things are going really well - hope all is well with you too.

Yeah, I can't wait to hear that - he's such a talented composer indeed. I hope you're record it, if possible and share with your friends?

Yes, I'll certainly be recording it - probably record the Adagio as well, sounding very nice during rehearsal
