Don't feel bad, guys: I just had my first--at least to my knowledge--cancerous growth removed from my ear today, and I'm a very lucky man, but feeling older by the minute!

The ear is a very vulnerable area for skin cancer. I have several growths removed from my face and my wife has has three surgeries including two on her nose. We both now always wear wide brimmed hats.

If only I knew at 19 and 20 years old what I know now, at 60!

Me too. The changes I would have made. When young I used to have a benign skin cancer which left white patches on my face. I have been told that you do not tend to suffer the more aggressive cancers if you have this. Sorry to hear of the experiences you guys have had. I will keep my fingers permanently crossed for you both

We have daily warnings on the UV level, as a golfer its a case of a good sun hat and plenty of cream

I have cheap version of the Panama which my wife will only allow me to wear in the garden or when abroad

It is a Panama that I use for Golf but it was not cheap by any means

Lovely hat Colin. Mine is only a cheap copy at 8 pounds. A real one would have cost me over 40 pounds, and I do not weat them enough to justify that price

Thank you for your thoughts Teddy. I have checkups with the Dermatologist several times a year. It is a constant battle. I have never heard of the type of skin cancer you mentioned. Interesting.

It was the sweaters that got to me

I used to get cold easy and still do. But now, I find myself
having to turn on the air to cool down and stop sweating
for no reason. I guess it's my age doing that. My husband
has to wear almost a sweater to keep warm when I get
hot like that.
