Keep guessing, guys.

He was born in the forties. Married another jazz musician (guitarist) in the early eighties. It ended with a divorce three years later. Oh, he's also into reggae.

Tough to call Mat. That bluesy style, maybe just a hint in there of 'Have You Met Miss Jones?' and maybe a note ot two from Willow Weep For Me? There is another quote but I can't place the name! It smacks of some Oscar Peterson licks but it isn't him. Definately not Hank jones! I am throwing the names about in desperation. Monty Alexander's style comes nearest to this track I think?

Stu, you never cease to amaze me. Monty Alexander it is! Playing Nite Mist Blues - ten minutes of pure bliss. And what about the quote? A small hint - it comes from a classical piece.

Ok, here's the quote. It was really just a few notes, but it was definitely Chopin.

Re: your clip, Stu - Not without a dose of hesitancy, but I'll say Bud Powell?

A quote from the Minute Waltz but I wouldn't have got it. There is another brief jazz one in there. I think it is a phrase that Nat Cole played on Body And Soul.

As for the other clip, it isn't Bud Powell. A clue - he was a favourite pianist of Miles Davis.

Sorry Mike. Not Chick Corea. He was a big influence on Miles's conception of rhythm.

Hmm, not really sure about this but I'll go with Gil Evans.

Not Gil Evans Mat. One more clue. Gord mentioned one of his CD's on the 'What Have You Been Listening to today?' thread, a few days ago.:)

Damn it, I can't figure it out. And I've read Miles' autobiography not that long ago!
