Ok, here's first clue. He played with Miles in the early 80s.

No, not Shorter.

He was Dave Liebman's student.

Two names come to mind, so I'll go for the tenor and soprano saxophonist Bill Evans.

Can I slip one in here?

Name the three soloists and what instrument is the last one playing?

Bonus points for name of tune and any other players.

The last one would be a French horn? The other one - I'd go with Dexter Gordon. Not sure about that trumpet.

Correct on the instrument, French Horn, nil point otherwise. On other tracks of the album the sax player also features with Clarinet, Bass Clarinet Alto and Baritone sax.

Ok, how 'bout Jimmy Buffington on French horn and Mel Powell on piano?

No, not for now... Unless cheating is allowed

Mel recorded the track 'When Did You Leave Heaven' with Jimmy Buffington but unsure of any other tracks. The trumpet and tenor is still 'wild guess time'. Buck Clayton comes to mind but doesn't sound like him on this track.

Not Buck Clayton either Stu, from the same LP (Mel Powell Bandstand) as "When did you leave heaven"

Trumpeter born 1930, played with Bob Wilbur, attended Yale, played some Classical Symphony and chamber, later played with Ray McKinley's Glenn Miler tribute band

Sax man usually associated with Charlie Spivak.

Whew!! I thought I'd cheat a bit but that didn't really work out. I hauled a huge volume of the book The Big Bands from my bookshelf, checked Charlie Spivak and others including Ray McKinlay but never really got anywhere! I had a few hunches running through my mind and tried to unscramble them but ended up scrambling my already overscrambled mind!!
Best I can offer is Nick Caizza or Bobby Jones tenor and Johnny Glasel or Bobby Nicholls trumpet.

Glasel on trumpet yes, the sax man can be difficult to tie down much detail on for clues, he has the same name as a DJ who swamps Google searches; there is also a classical clarinettist and a band leader with the same surname.
