As some of you may know, I'm preparing a major switch/upgrade of the forum software, and at the same time I will be adding a few addtional sections. One of them will be a "Political Sub-Forum".

Political topics can often get quite heated and also quite extensive in size, and since I (and Senior Regulator Corno) will not always have time to read every post and follow the dicussions closely, a dedicated volunteer regulator (a.k.a. "moderator") will be a requisite for the political forum to succeed. Without moderation it could easily turn in to abuse and flame-fests...

The Political forum will open, hopefully, within a month from now, so there is some time to prepare, but I will be accepting applications starting now.

Moderating the Political Forum will require a certain level of dedication and person-skills. You have to be able to "defuse" sticky sitations, or if that fails (or is not an option) lock down/end the dicussion with a swift but just hand. Also, you will have to be able to visit the forums very frequently. The Regulator of the Political Forums will be handed a great deal of authority, so you must know how to handle that with fairness and levelheadedness. You are of course allowed to voice your own political opinions, and join the discussions, but must in all your postings statue a good example for others to follow in your style of debating.

Magle International Music Forums is in itself a 100% apolitical forum, so there must be room for all political views - as long as they follow the basic rules, and does not break any laws.

New members can apply as well as current/regular members - but no one can become regulator until they have been active for a week or more, and have made at least 25 posts. Current regulators can also apply if they would like to (and have the time/dedication to) take the responsibility of moderating a politcal forum as well.

Apply by sending me a Private Message or email.
Looking forward to getting applcations for this - I hope - exciting job

Well, what do you know, from a reporter and mayoral candidate with Royal Highland Buchanan maternal dual descent, paternal James Watt. James T. Buchanan, a Scottish Pastor and President of the United States, is a distant relative, etc. That's some serious name-dropping, but current politics is not the spiritual endeavor I would enjoy. Mr. Magle, please be careful with the exhuberant facilities of your functionality. Until cluster bombs, mines and irradiated remnants are removed on earth, political commentary will severely pollute the generous musicality here. Politics! What about uh, musical instruments the Knights Templar brought past Hadrian's Wall, when Europe burned "heretics" and the only public Mason was The King of Scotland. The Scion James of Scotland banished The Holy Roman Empire from the lesser lowlands, when Latin was the language. He created The English Dictionary and used it to translate The Holy King James Bible. As we can see, he was on to something, since his work has become global. I hear all the time, you can't understand English if you don't know Gaelic. If you must, please, demand that quality. I too, can say some awefull things. as always, John Watt. typeUupL8r! Soon, oh soon, the light, ours forever, ours the right, The Son will guide us, a reason to be here.

The original offer was made almost 3 years ago - don't know if the idea got scrubbed or not ... we've not discussed this at any of our recent staff meetings ... but you never know, so send Frederik Magle a PM if you are interested. Certainly worth a try.

If organised religion (i.e. denominational systems) is the 'opium of the people' party politics is surely the thalidomide.

I would volunteer to be a moderator (being a great respecter of democracy and even of the US Consitutution) but I regret that politics and the systems of politics are now infested with secret government and with fraternal ghools. With delusions of 'a new world order'. Better to be an artist, a musician, and to dream that the defence budget is transfered to music and the arts. LOL !! I plead guilty to such heresies !

awww...must there be a political forum? music and politics...hmmm...i can't see how they merge...politics and religion are beliefs, often heated, which almost always just hog virtual resources. Yes, you can see each other's view but that's just it. In the end, everyone is right in his/her own eyes, which kind of give a negative aura. Music is a preference. It appeals to all since there are genres anyway. What I like may be different from what others like but it does not create tension, unlike politics. It's something not everyone will enjoy. Well, maybe just me. Just my 1-cent worth.

PS...the fact that it took 3 years before someone got interested tells a lot, doesn't it?

I agree with many of your points, Cecile.

Truthfully, I agree with all your points ... well stated, indeed.

My perception, speaking as a forum member and not wearing the Regulator hat, is that a separate political forum area most likely will not materialize. Most likely when this thread was created, the forum was still in its infancy ... ready to evolve into something that everyone could participate in.

Times change, people change ... All things considered, I think Cecile hit the nail on the head by stating "the fact that it took 3 years before someone got interested tells a lot ... ". Bingo ... she wins the special Danish Pastry for this year.

No, you are certainly not alone, C5:).

I share your view as well.

Yeah! I'm just reading what I first typed, and I'm wondering why I thought that was a political rant.
Some of that is clan for me, uh, having some semi-responsibility.
I gotta think before I let these fretting fingers fly as the Fount of Font.
And the Earl of Url. You saw that first, here at Magle.dk.
