Hi Gord, I'm pretty sure it'd get high ratings if you posted in the other thread.

Ok John, you have my full attention now. Can you link to the oboe recordings?

I've been looking for jazz oboists for years and I never came across Bob Cooper.

Thanks, John. The clip did make me happy, indeed. (the flute solo was just as good).

Someone once described the oboe as an ill (wood)wind that nobody blows good. A little cruel maybe. I found that piece very pleasant, but I cannot say that it stirred me.

James Carter-hadn't heard him before but lovely sax.
What I class as "sort-of jazz" against an orchestral backing.
Must admit I liked it.

Guys. I attended a James Carter Trio (with organ and drums) concert in Edinburgh in August and he really stirs up the dust! He opened on tenor, then played a few on alto then the rest of the show was on soprano. I like the soprano but prefer it as an occasional feature, and would have loved to have heard more tenor from him. It was mostly all high octane stuff, and he is also quite a showman!
A typical UK audience, deeply obsorbed in the music, brought an observation from him, "Don't you all never want to get up and dance? Shake it about! If this is you guys typical Saturday night out then I sure wouldn't want to meet you all on a Monday!"
