No excuses Mat! That 3 Sounds recording would be the 1962 version. Gene Harris with Anthony Simpkins bass, Bill Dowdy drums. 50 years have passed!!:)

Mat. Quite a lot of the Three Sounds recordings seem to be out of stock just now. However my personal favourite CD is in stock 'Only The Best' . They cover some numbers that appeal to me such as St Thomas, That's All, Robbins Nest, Nothin But The Blues and others. But some recordings available include string sections and orchestral backgrounds that I am not to keen on.

There is some absolutely delightful scat singing in the above video. The horns are great, the arrangement is great, the overall execution is great. Wish I had stumbled upon it earlier!

That is a classic. A long time favourite of mine. With them guys it isn't just all about technique it's also about true feelings and telling a story. Amazing that there has been only 72 views!!!!
Excellent expressive music like this it seems, is just far too good to be popular.
