• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

In order to post a new topic - or reply to existing ones - you may join and become a member by clicking on Register New User. It's completely free and only requires a working email address (in order to confirm your registration - it will never be given away!). We strive to make this a friendly and informative forum for anyone interested in pipe organs and organ music.

I enjoy browsing through YouTube for videos of Organ Music. This is my latest find. An arrangement by Robert Hebble of Lead, Kindly Light by John Henry, Cardinal Newman and John B. Dykes played on the Hauptwerk sample set of the 1928 E. M. Skinner organ of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Chicago.

...this is really well done. You get the beautiful sounds of that instrument, along with a wonderful setting of the tune. A true example of the value of Hauptwerk, spreading the word!

thanks for posting. jgirv

Absolutely wonderful arrangement, Rob.

I've always been an admirer of Hebble's organs works ... I need to add more of his composition to my library, for sure.

I recorded some videos recently, with American service music. I like the uplifting, melodic, catchy and movie soundtrack-like style of this kind of music. And so does the congregation :)

There may be a considerable lag between the sound and video. Sorry about that! I don't know why that lag exists, because when I play the wmv file with Media Player, it plays ok. May be a problem with Flash Player.

Marko...... THANKS !

Excellent videos, excellent performances. Bravo !
Ok, there's a latency seeing your fingers and listening to the sound, but this is not and by no means a drawback of the whole work. After all is something you can fix I believe and re-upload.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful music with all.

Best

Last spring I bought a set of Maas Cathedral Chimes for my organ from Ebay, cost USD 700 plus 400 shipping. Good value for money! Three tubes had cracks and I ordered new ones from the manufacturer. They arrived this month and are now in place.

And because I haven't found many Youtube videos with organ chimes, here is one with my "new old" chimes:

And yet two more videos just for fun (no chimes though):

I like this site, although I don't think all the links & vids on this blog are still working:

http://mypipeorganhobby.blogspot.com/

For instance, no clip survived of the beautiful historic organ of the Cathedral in Roskilde, Denmark.
Therefore this short introduction of the instrument by Mario Perestegi from Croatia:

And two 'soundclips': Piet Kee plays Bruhns on the Roskilde organ.

I came upon this Video today. The title of the composition intrigued me. The Organist Composer is playing the instrument at Sts. Pierre et Paul - Obernai (France). I have not found much information on Marco Lo Muscio. I wonder if that is really his name. It sounds more like a pseudonym. It would appear that he is or was a Progressive Rock Organist (whatever that is). I know nothing about rock Music

I would be interested in your opinions of this piece.

I found something...

This Piece, "Mystic Alleluja in memory of Messiaen", was written for the centenary of Messiaen (1908/2008).
Is very interesting because Lo Muscio uses the "Modes à transposition limitée" by Messiaen combined with some blues harmonies.

Marco Lo Muscio is the authentic name: http://www.marcolomuscio.com

Is an italian classical pianist, organist and composer that from 2004 started to work around to transcriptions of music by Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson and Steve Hackett for pipe organ and grand piano.
Currently Lo Muscio works with John and Steve Hackett, performs in Europe and Russia, and his music is played from some well-known british organists.

A lot of videos on Youtube:
