• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

In order to post a new topic - or reply to existing ones - you may join and become a member by clicking on Register New User. It's completely free and only requires a working email address (in order to confirm your registration - it will never be given away!). We strive to make this a friendly and informative forum for anyone interested in pipe organs and organ music.

Dear fellow organ (music) lovers, this is an Australian store, based in Sydney (where I live), and they've finally provided a digital catalogue of their collection. Please note this is an anqituarian shop, so you won't find brand new music (good quality, yes, brand new, no). Nice range of organ music, and they ship overseas.

Nice find, David ... and there are some in that list that I have and know that they are out of print.

Hey Lars - yes, I'm extremely tempted to wander over there in my lunch hour and look at their collection. It's been too long since I visited the shop.

They have been in business for quite a while, but only recently (seemingly) did they digitise their catalogue. Must have been a mammoth job as they have a huge amount of sheet music on their shelves.

When I lived in Southern California, we had a music shop like that in Hollywood ... it was all Classical ... sheet music and books floor to ceiling, front to back ... if they didn't have it, it wasn't composed - it was a fantastic place to go.

I envy you having the ability to peruse such a shop ... a good place to max out your credit card ... :nut:

And if anything, a debit card can be more dangerous than a credit card. It does have the advantage that you can't "max it out" unless you have a very limited bank account. But at least the debt doesn't pile up on it like a Visa and its relatives. I happen to have both, but nowadays I usually lean towards the debit card. They don't send you a bill that way!!

And now with the banks in the U.S. planning to charge a monthly fee for using your Debit Card is it still a viable option?

It is, at least for me. I don't ever carry more than $20 in my wallet ... I use my debit card for all my purchases (gas, grocery, clothing, etc). The monthly fee is a "one time" per month charge of $4 or $5, whether you use your debit card once or a hundred times.

I have credit cards, but use them when on a trip for lodging and meals.

The sad thing is, unless you've got squillions in your bank account (which I don't, though mine is quite healthy). Banks will always issues charges, they are complete bastards.

I agree with you, David ... they charge the consumer up the you know what, but then have the gall to only give us 0.001% in interest on our hard earned savings.

Wondering if you had a change to visit that shop recently?

Talkin' about banks......... take look on Greece now........ we're in the middle of a crisis, cards full no money from anywhere....

But, (I saw it on a TV debate....) our goverment could tax the hyper benefits of all greek banks and about 15 international corporations active in Greece and get about .. ......... 500.000.000.000 euros !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pay whatever we owe to foreign banks and gain return (about half of those.....) for our coutry and relief people suffering .
They don't, they won't.

The "good" thing is that my bank doesn't charge anything for my debit card, and nothing for my credit card too (?!), but this doesn't help me either as my income has gone low........veeeery low.
Keeping 20euros in my pocket feels rich !

Anyway, David, thanks. Good link and super shop IMHO.

@Lars - no, I was going to wander up there last week but didn't get around to it. It's firmly on my radar and I hope to pop over next week.

@Ghekorg7 - Greece's financial crisis is indeed a worry, but, my friend - as long as you've got money for your daily cappucino and cigarette - life's all good, eh? LOL

Yeah !

David you scored.
The difference is that with my cigarette I drink my coffee (45% Kitale) black , with a small spoon dose of raw cane.
Also, (= very important!) I got with me always my favourite scores (mainly Bach, Bux , Dmitri and Rameau), my keyboards & pedals, no matter what !!
(I got this CME m-key 49note and on any vacation-holiday have a keyboard to play !). My lap does the rest :)

Hi David, glad you asked !

Here are the pics.
First : With this setup I did Dandrieu's Magnificat uploaded here. 13note pedals not seen but are below the table :)

On the second pic you see what I mean : 49keys, headphones and a lap.
Inside the lap there are ...... many many instruments, impossible to have them at once anywhere if real ones ! The sound..... super !
Both can be inside a regular travel bag !
Freedom on the go.

PS. The coffee 's cold & shaken.... > summertime !
