John, I have always enjoyed the easy loping swing of the Papa Bue Viking Jazz Band. They were quite a popular unit. Reminds me of the George Lewis Ragtimers Band, in fact Lewis sometimes played with Papa Bue's band.

@ jazznut, You won't regret it; they are a fantastic group. It is just such a tragedy that Esbjorn Svensson had to die at such an early age.

Jazznut, That was an excellent Shelley Manne video. He was one of the musicians that I never had the pleasure of seeing in concert.

I have always loved West Coast Jazz of which Shelley hasbbeen one of the stalwarts

Shelley was a very talented, subtle, and tasty drummer, who made the music sound better, no matter who he played with. He swung like crazy with his cool loose feel and timely comping. He never over played.
