• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

In order to post a new topic - or reply to existing ones - you may join and become a member by clicking on Register New User. It's completely free and only requires a working email address (in order to confirm your registration - it will never be given away!). We strive to make this a friendly and informative forum for anyone interested in pipe organs and organ music.

Hi Giwro,

Great news :)
I'm lookin forward to see the completed set. From what I listened to, it sounds super. Presler's midi files are good, as always, but I would prefere some live playin' created recordings :)

Hi Bill,
Now my friend this is the main issue with sample sets. Dry sets are more flexible as we can add whatever we want on them, also for organists playin' with these in church. Also they are low in memory due to the lack of tail or release samples, now-days long.
But wet and/or surround sets give a super high pleasure and HQ-pro results when just open HW load and play/record. But lots of GB ram and HDD needed, many cores and good soundcards.

I hope Giwro will release this set in both options :)

Hi Bill, Panos,

Thanks for your replies!
It will be in both wet and dry versions, although the wet version will come out later, as it has multiple releases to deal with (and hence more editing!)
The good news is that much of the ODF work on the Dry version can be a basis for the wet!

There is a youtube of the real organ HERE
and a short tour of some of the facility and organ chambers HERE

More demos to follow, yes I'll do some live ;-)

Very nice pleasing full sound . Feels like you are in a church and not in the living room... should do well .

I'm pleased to announce that the Wangerin mini/trial set is now available. It uses the stops of the Auditorium organ to make a virtual version of the smaller organs in the 2 lodge rooms. I had hoped to sample one of those as well, but even the "working" one is in such bad repair that it is not a good candidate for sampling.

There is one demo up of the mini-set on Contrebombarde:
http://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/music/6508

You will have 14 days to try the set out, it works with the Free Edition of HW4. If you decide you want to use it after that, you will need to pay for the license... You may access an order page either at http://www.evensongmusic.net/samples.html or from the Organ Details on the Hauptwerk program Menu. Do note that if you purchase the mini set, you will receive a discount of towards the purchase of the full Dry or Wet version, should you decide to purchase those in the future. (eg you will only pay the difference in price)

Download HERE (scroll down)

I hope you enjoy the trial/mini set, and that it whets your appetite for the full version. Thanks to all who have supported this project.

Best Wishes,

- Jonathan

Hi Jonathan :)

I'm downloading now the small trial.... sorry I'm late, too many things at the same time lately.

Also experimenting/creating stuff with the latest GrandOrgue devs build (909) where multi releases and attack are now possible and I can tell you the sound is .... terrific. The 950 build has multi audio outs support now (!) .
Needs many hours creating an odf (you know very well those things...) now and more if one needs to add FX as also tremulant waveform.

GO v3 's gonna be very competitive to HW4 and will have the advatage of being totally free to overcome some HW4's features which are unique still so far :-D

I'll try your baby tomorrow and post back my impressions, thanks for this trial version !!!
