Just found this thread CD. It looks to be a real treasure trove of great Choral Music. I am unable to read the russian but I found this example of Kastalsky's music.

Hi GB,

Thanx for the link - If you can get your hands on recordings w/ the Men's Choir of Holy Trinity Seminary in Sergiev Posad, then you'll get a primer on some of the best Male Choir Sound around.........I'll start looking for and posting if I find anything........

One of the great Liturgical composers of Russia resided there and worked tirelessly with music. Deacon Sergey Trubachev was and is an inspiration to all who wish to learn Russian Liturgical and Choral Music.

Hi CD

There is a series of 6 videos on You tube titles "Holy Russia celebrates The Festival Of Christmas" which seem to have a number of choral groups including Sergiev Posad.

The first will lead you to the others. To me the music and the images are spectacular. Have a Happy New Year.

Dear GB,

Thank you for your excellent sleuthing - I am soon back in Moscow and looking forward to celebrating Christmas yet again on 07 Jan 2012 according to the Julian Calendar. My wife said that Christmas didn't arrive in the State Church of Sweden aka The Democratic Peoples Church which is run by the political parties and is thereby reduced to being a Mutual Interest Fellowship Club. It is so sad........
