• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

Playing Hauptwerk samples on Tyros keyboard

I loaded some Hauptwerk Organ 16-bit wet samples on my new Yamaha Tyros4 keyboard. When i play these samples on Hauptwerk
program,i could hear church reverb effect ,but i could not hear original reverb effect when i release the key on my Tyros4 keyboard, only looped portion is sounding.I checked these Wav files on Wavsaur program,i could see one loop programmed in the WAV files. My Tyros4 keyboard is recognizing the loop in the WAV file but not producing reverb effect on key release.
Please let me know how to get original reverb effect on key release.I'm attaching one of the wav file(C-3)note.

Thanks,
Sunny.

Hi!

The samples of most recent HW samplesets have their audio in multiple parts (different attack sections, sustain or loops and different releases). Thus you'll not have the complete sound in one .wav file in most cases! Instead there are many files that the application will combine into a speaking pipe sound when played (in HW!).

The old HW1 (or MyOrgan-) and GO-style samples (still) use a complete .wav file that contain the whole sound in one file. Then you only have the loop markers that define the sustain section and the release (cue) markers that indicate where the release will start when the key is released.

Recent development of GO will make it possible to have different sections from different files as well, but that's a bit into the future.

Kind regards

Hi Lars P,
Thanks for your reply. Is there any program available that can add release sound to the loops. Is sample looper program is helpful?

Hi Sunny, welcome to the mad house (sometimes known as a forum)

I'm currently working on some orchestral instrument samples sets, flute and violin so far. I used sample looper to find loops and select one around 0.5 seconds duration, when possible choosing one near the beginning of the file, I then used Loop auditioneer (by our own Lars Palo) to add release cues. (See thread "going loopy" for a bit more detail)

Hi Sunny and welcome to this forum ! :)

I'm familiar with Yamaha stuff, my first synthesizer, along with a minimoog D, was a Yamaha CS-15 in 1978...
I'm using EL-900 as my main organ 2m/p console, playing jOrgan, GrandOrgue, Hauptwerk and many Custom sets I make with Kontakt 5, Independence 3 pro, Shortcircuit 1, Linuxsampler (windows) and many more , in every case the sampler is controlled by jOrgan.

My main hardware instrument is Yamaha Motif ES-6 and Korg SG-1D 88 as mother.
Tyros is similar in concept with Motif, so I see what you were tryin' to accomplish. There's a way to add the release portion of your wav file mapped exactly as your looped wav ie in the same position (C3) but set on Tyros to be played on release.
There's a harpsichord preset on Yamaha flagship models (on Motif too) where we can hear the release. Here it is done with reverse (negative) ADSR settings.

But I believe it is a waste of time.... 16bit and little ram..... We cannot have a super organ set this way.

My advice , set your Tyros as main controller (has USB , no?) and then select an organ simulation software. GrandOrgue is the first choice, as it is simpler and delivers high power using Asio4all. Many free and killer sets available.
jOrgan is the best midi relay and I'm using it totally as it can control everything even Hauptwerk.

If you're not happy and cannot afford to buy Hauptwerk and cannot compromise with its free version limits, then try a powerful sampler like Kontakt and Independence. These are not free so, if you cannot afford them too, go for Shortcircuit 1. It is free. It supports Asio and loads, wav files, plays them on release, loads sf2, sfz and many more.

But, if you're goin' to use a sampler you'll need jOrgan to design your custom console and which sampler module plays where (great, swell, ped...) also for mixing stops from one manual. You cannot do those with a sampler alone, even if you pay lots of money to get it.

Hope I helped a bit.... :)
Best
