New Student Violin Help

Now that I'm dropping big bucks on batteries for my digital camera,
I try to use accessories that use the same size.
They die out with video and photo use, but have lots of juice for flashlights, etc.
I wouldn't worry about the violin. It's just up to you to do it.
And if you get a chance to get a Chinese, laser-etched, glorious plastic violin,
and you don't want it, send it to me!

For beginning, I would honestly suggest an acoustic violin. They're also usually cheaper. Be extremely careful buying off the web. See if you can find a shop to see some in person. Also see if there's anyone who knows anything about violins that would be willing to go with you to hear the instrument. As far as brands I would suggest for a beginner a scherl & roth or Strobel. Used, I would expect them to go for around 100 and 400 respectively.
