Excellent stuff!!
Mike, that's Melba Liston on trombone. She played at one time with the Dizzy Gillespie Orchestra and also became a notable arranger.
I posted a video clip on Lady Instrumentalists a few weeks ago, from this same Quincy Jones session, of Melba playing her arrangement of 'My Reverie'.

Mike, I think it is a great idea! I have been following it with interest. I haven't posted anything just been enjoying the comparisons. I will see if I can come up with something!

I have long enjoyed that Clifford Brown version of 'Savoy', and the Bostic as well.
If I had heard the Maynard Ferguson track blindfold I would never have known who it was without some Maynard powerhouse trumpet!..and, also, that brief 'Summertime' quote!:)
Here is three videos of One O clock Jump. Two by Count Basie, one with Buddy De Franco/Wardell Gray and Clark Terry, the other by the full band featuring Harry Edison.

Hi Mike,
Since I have been out of touch for the last week I havent seen the musical duet from yourself and stu
until today.
Guys, I love the idea and the music.
My only problem is that I am going to spend big chunks of time glued to the computer which could
end in divorce.
Having scanned quite quickly I am currently going back to the start for the complete show. What great music.
Additionally I have to start looking for a theme of my own.
Curse the two of you, I wont have time to eat.

I'm interested as to why some just post URLs, others like me use the "Insert Video" option, is it 'cos you don't know how to use the video option, or do you prefer to take up less space, or want to retain an air of mystery until the reader clicks the URL?

Unsure of the videos option Mike. You have prompted me to check over the options and reckon I'll have a go at it, with fingers crossed!!!.

Main difference is that using the video link icon, you only get the video and sound, using the URL you get the full Youtube page.

The video link icon is 3 to the right of the URL icon, when you hover the mouse over it it says "Insert Video" (it's intended to look like a couple of frames of film) it's between the "Insert Image" icon and the "Wrap quote tags round selected text" like this

I'm not sure what the problem is Mike.
