Superabimus for string orchestra (live video)

    Well,

I think it's time I introduced myself somewhat more properly then!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5y964hPza8

This is a work, titled Superabimus and it was a commission by the Octava Chamber Orchestra which also premiered the work in the Fall of 2010 (the recording is the linked video).

Conductor was a great person and musician from Canada, Johan Louwersheimer!

I hope you will enjoy this work. Any comments are most welcome of course!

    Nikolas

I found it one of the more accessible pieces of contemporary music that I have heard, and that is high praise from me in that I am not really a follower of contemporary classical

Hey JHC! Thanks for listening, for watching and for being brave enough to do those things and THEN post about it!

This was the very first work written after I got my PhD in composition, so the pressure of being on the edge of new stuff had gone away and my reaction was to create something which is closer to tonality, without being fully tonal. My experience with more commercial venues of music composing also helped!

But I fully agree with you that this is rather... accessible in aesthetic terms, especially if you go past the first couple of minutes or so...

    Again thanks!

MILF!??!?! I know the term MILF, but this doesn't seem exactly right. Unless there's a hidden area in the forum!

    A typo? Suuure.............

Nikolas. As for your composition, I'll second Colin's comment. Also, I had a quick listen to your Sketch Music for piano. It reminded me of Bartok's Mikrokosmos a bit.

It really was, I am only a two finger typist and hit the wrong keys at times, and I too heard a little Bartokese.

Very creative, I like that, although harmonies are a bit to modern for me.
