For fans of video game music

The PLAY! Video Game Symphony is in the US

    From SoundTrackNET...

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., February 1, 2006 - Today, JMP Productions announced the second North American concert date for PLAY! A Video Game Symphony the international concert series with music from a catalogue of blockbuster video games. The concert will be presented in Philadelphia at The Mann Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, July 27, 2006.

The PLAY! concert at The Mann Center will feature award-winning music from titles such as FINAL FANTASY (R), SILENT HILL (R), BATTLEFIELD 1942 (TM), METAL GEAR SOLID (R), WORLD OF WARCRAFT (R), SONIC THE HEDGEHOG (R), THE ELDER SCROLLS III: MORROWIND (TM), SHENMUE (TM) and many others. Outstanding graphics on large screens above the orchestra accompany the scores, highlighting memorable moments from the video games.

The Mann Center for the Performing Arts is the only outdoor cultural arts venue in the Philadelphia region and one of the largest of its kind in the nation. This unique open-air theater has hosted some of the world’s best-known artists and performances. Today, The Mann Center offers a range of arts programs like nowhere else in the area - from orchestra to opera, dance to drumming, pops and jazz to rock and roll. The concert will be performed by The Mann Center orchestra and chorus, conducted by Grammy Award-winning artist Arnie Roth.

Says Jason Michael Paul, producer of PLAY!: "As one of America's greatest cities I am thrilled to be able to bring PLAY! to the city of brotherly love! It is the goal of PLAY! to popularize video game music. I am hopeful that the second largest city on the east coast will reciprocate the excitement that has been received all over the world for such a brand new concept."

Tickets will go on sale shortly and can be purchased through The Mann Center box office.

I would go just to listen to Morrowind, what a score that was. Pity I don't even live in the same country.

Too bad it's far out of my driving range.. I would love to hear the Battlefield 1942 themesong.. What a classic! Some of the old Sonic music would be great too, however if I honestly don't recall any of the songs. I would love to go just for old times sake, however; just getting there would be a $90 plane ticket.

I cannot even begin to imagine what the Sonic score would sound like in full symphonic glory ?

I didnt think it would be suited to that style. But I suppose any song can in some way be arranged to suit an orchestra.

I wish something like this would come to the UK. But I guess video games arent as important here and still seen as a niche market.

I like to listen to the music when I play Bejeweled 2 and Bookworm
because of the style of music.

There is a new computer game with a wonderful soundtrack to it.
I have it and it's the sequel to bejeweled, bejeweled2, and now
I have bejeweled twist. I love it! YouTube - Bejeweled Twist - Blitz Mode - 922,875 points
