Just a matter of sticking at it, I recently got my Flute out which has not been played for about 2-3 years and had the same experience, it takes a while to build up the embouchure and unless you keep practicing it will be lost and take a while to get it back. :)

Hi Saxamania :)

You might also try a softer reed ... maybe a 1.5 or 2.0 ... at least until you can re-develop your embouchure. Try not to get discouraged though ... all your playing ability will eventually return.

I'll always remember the first time I caught some muscle strain in my tongue,
something I didn't expect, and it did affect my performance, needing many rehearsals.
However, I wasn't playing sax.

That kind of facial strain is reflected in your heart.
Statistics compiled by the American Federation of Musicians shows horn players die seven years earlier than finger players.
That blows.

Uh, that is a very appropriate reply, even if she is a brunette.
I just found out dogs and cats lap up with the bottoms of their tongues.
Too bad I wasn't that variable myself, back then.

And Saxamania, don't forget the video visuals, tying knots in cherry stems with your tongue, stuff like that.
When you're out there performing offline, lifestyle statements like that can only help, come payday.
Even Tom Cruise, the famous American Hollywood movie star, is getting his tongue out,
what is now being interpreted as his first serious run for a Best Actor Academy Award.
The fact he learned to play guitar to fulfil this role isn't getting any respect at all.
Everyone plays guitar, if not already.

You just need to hang in there! But a softer reed probably would help tho. Are there like, soft pattings in your buttongs? Wow, I am sorry I do no know how to talk about instruments in english. Welp, I play the clarinet, and if one of the pattings have fallen out it cannot play.
But yeah, softer weed, and then try playing the easier notes. Is that the high ones for someone who plays the sax? I do not know much about saxophones, but I play the clarinet myself, so I hoped to be able to give some advice :)

It's a good job you guys don't have to make your own reeds
