Dang ... :banghead: ... I knew I should have come back to the UK this summer ... shame on :scold: me ...

Looks scrumptious though ... every day at dinnertime in the UK we had fish n' chips ... sometimes with mushypeas.

@Bill,

You ain't the only one that eats Fish on Fridays:grin: - although we(my tribe and I) adore "chish and fips"...

Halibut have been overfished and are now considered an endangered species, they are now being "farmed" in Canada, Norway and Iceland

Thanks to England giving away most of her fishing rights, by order of the EU and importing most of the potatoes from Egypt fish and chips is becoming an expensive meal, much to my regret.

Potatoes from Egypt? Yep, that will definitely put a dent in one's food budget...:shake:

Dunno where you get your spuds Teddy, but the only ones I see from Egypt are very early "New" potatoes, some weeks before Jersey and Cornish ones come on the market.

All the others I buy are English. Mind you I do buy in the more affordable downmarket places like Tesco and Lidl, not Sainsburys, Waitrose or M&S.

Yes, Tesco is our usual port of call although Waitrose and Marks can be very good value for money if you shop carefully. We export seed potatoes to Egypt where they are grown in sand, and then buy them back again. After such a wet Smmer (the worst since 1912) we will see this trade increase I expect

"Exporting seeds and then buying back the produce from those seeds" - Ah, as long as people don't know what goes into making sausage, politics and export/import - import/export they'll sleep better...:shake::shake::shake:

Talk about import/export ... here in the states, at least where oranges are concerned, California oranges are exported to Florida ... conversely, Florida oranges are exported to California ... :banghead:

And China, who has so little arable land - about 25% of its geographic land - Something does not compute - China already gets lots of veggies from Russia...
