Over Jazz channel on Youtube

The channel "Over Jazz" looks to be a fairly recent one, nothing much uploaded more than 3 months ago, some within the last day. Tracks seem mostly 1930s through 1960 ish just about every jazz name from those days is featured, so far 4,800 tracks. No real video as such, either stills or moving graphics of a stylus and a revolving disc. However the music is good so far from what I've listened to

I barely scraped the surface, on the home site so far 190 pages at 30 tracks per page, I started looking at every page but after about 20 pages started skipping to every 5th page. I noticed a few artists I would not class as jazz e.g. Presley, Doris Day others maybe borderline, e.g. Ray Charles, Hoagy Carmichael, Kay Starr, and there were quite a few pages of latin groups.

I think it deserves a thorough investigation! Browsing through page by page artists are sometimes mixed, example pages 185 through 190 start off with Sarah Vaughn with a few Oscar Peterson, then a page mostly Oscar, with a few Billie Holliday, then 3 pages mainly Billie Holliday with a few Oscar Peterson.

There is a search facility which makes it easier if you want one specific artist/band or tune, looks to be a work in progress still, did a search for Duke Ellington and got nothing relevant so far

Do we want to make a joint effort to sort through?

Having nowt better to do ;) I thought I'd copy and trim up all entries for one artist/band, Cab Calloway, (some tracks include Chu Berry)

First did a search on Cab Calloway, found 75 (two and a half pages) did a copy/paste into Notepad, did a find/replace to get rid of unwanted info like number of views, Thumbnail numbers etc resulting in

Chu Berry & Cab Calloway - The Lone Ranger (1940)
Chu Berry & Cab Calloway - Who's Yehoodi (1940)
Chu Berry & Cab Calloway - Three Swings and Out (1938)
Chu Berry & Cab Calloway - Trylon Swing (1939)
Chu Berry & Cab Calloway - Calling All Bars (1940)
Chu Berry & Cab Calloway - Rustle of Swing (1938)
Chu Berry & Cab Calloway - Penguin Swing (1938)
Chu Berry & Cab Calloway - Hot Air (1940)
Chu Berry & Cab Calloway - Hep Cats Love Song (1941)
Chu Berry & Cab Calloway - Special Delivery (1941)
Chu Berry & Cab Calloway - Sunset (1940)
Chu Berry & Cab Calloway - Bye Bye Blues (1940)

Cab Calloway - The Moment I Laid Eyes On You (1941)
Cab Calloway - The Mermaid Song (1941)
Cab Calloway - The Jumpin' Jive (Hep Hep) (1939)
Cab Calloway - Tappin' Off (1941)
Cab Calloway - Take The 'A' Train (1941)
Cab Calloway - Tain't No Good (1942)
Cab Calloway - St. James Infirmary (1941)
Cab Calloway - Says Who Says You, Says I! (1941)
Cab Calloway - You Are The One In My Heart (1941)
Cab Calloway - Who Calls (1941)
Cab Calloway - Willow Weep For Me (1941)
Cab Calloway - Weakness (1934)

Cab Calloway - Conchita (Cares Nothing About Love) (1941)
Cab Calloway - Blues In The Night (1941)
Cab Calloway - I Get The Neck Of The Chicken (1942)
Cab Calloway - I Ain't Got Nobody (1935)
Cab Calloway - Hey, Doc! (1941)
Cab Calloway - Honey Dripper (1945)
Cab Calloway - Hi De Ho Man (1947)
Cab Calloway - Hot Air (1940)
Cab Calloway - Abi Gezunt (A Bee Gezindt) (1939)
Cab Calloway - A Smo-o-o-oth One (1941)
Cab Calloway - Hoy Hoy (1938)
Cab Calloway - Are You All Reet (1941)
Cab Calloway - a Chicken Ain't Nothin' But a Bird (1940)

So all you Cab Calloway fans can now find and listen to their favourite tracks. Methinks this might get a bit unwieldy if we try to do all 4,800 tracks, any ideas how or where, or even if, it's worth saving somehow such that it's accessible to all of us.

Personally, I don't see much point in sorting through so many tracks. Copying all the titles into a file and posting it here might seem like a nice idea, but it would be extremely time-consuming. Plus, you have to consider the risk of the tracks being taken down due to copyrights or whatever other reason. Often times when I find an interesting video on YT I will bookmark it only to find that a few weeks/months later it has been removed. It would be a shame if we spent all that time making a list of the channel's content, and then it being removed or the account closed, ect.

I think knowing itself there's a channel out there (btw, good job on finding it, Mike) with so many interesting tracks is enough. And, as you pointed out, there is a search feature, which makes the process of going through all of the tracks a bit less troublesome. You can also use the standard youtube search box (not the one on the channel). Type an artist's name followed by the channel's name, for example Lee Morgan overjazz, and you'll get some nice results.

Maybe it would be better/easier to post just links to various channels with noteworthy jazz content? There's lots of them with hundreds of videos in each. We just gotta find 'em.

P.S.
For those of you who are to lazy to actually look for it :p, here's a link to the channel Mike found:

@ Mat, maybe I should have put a tongue in cheek smiley for the track listing suggestion, the Cab Calloway list was as stated a result of mowt better to do at the time!

IIRC I posted a link to Overjazz on another thread, probably why I omitted it here!

Fantastic Mike,
It seems too good to be true.
Is there a way to copy the (music only) onto say iTunes (perhaps as a playlist) or any other music
channel, or can it only be played through Youtube as a DVD?
