New Guy on the block

This Forum sure sounds like the right place for me. I'm a jazz nut, it's what I listen to 99% of the time. I like all music...but jazz is what entertains my "little brain".
I am also a jazz drummer, so my choices in music is sometimes based on who is on the kit. I simply like what I like.
I'm always interested in finding new CD's with a new trio, quartet, or quintet. My ears are open.

Select your youtube track, click SHARE, go to EDIT and then COPY. On the reply box - this one for instance - click EDIT and then PASTE. Happy posting

The better way to do it is to click on the URL in Youtube and copy it, then select the "Link" icon at the top of the post entry window and paste in the URL, giving you this to click on,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phAYEO4lHbk

Methinks the sound engineer must have had a problem getting the mic right for Krupa's set up!

or you can click on the "Insert Video" link, and enter the URL for another track from same LP

Both these methods work on most forums not just MIMF.

jazznut! Yeah! I like the look of that, and a jazz drummer too!
I love jamming the most, and I want a drummer who can tighten up the jazznut!

Okay, maybe I was typing a little too glib to seem more than gratuitous.
Musicians describe drummers as "being in the pocket", "being a groove player", or having rhythm or a beat.
Some drummers think they're good when they're "loose".
That's all nice, but when I typed to jazznut that I like a drummer who can tighten the jazz nut up, as a drummer,
I was thinking about "catching shots", being improvisational, but catching hits with the drummer.
I like it when drummers say I make them sound better, especially if they like my headstock help hitting the cymbals.
Elvin Jones, my most influential polyrhythmic jazzer,
Gene Krupa and Mitch Mitchell, for pop,
Jimi Hendrix, for high-hats,
Buddy Rich, for tapping his sticks during Johnny Carson interviews.
