Difficulty sending replies to the replies on my first post.

Hello,
I am new to this Forum, my name is Eric Wood, I sent an introduction of myself in the form of a new post, receive five replies, and have typed a reply to all of these thanking them.
It seems that only one has actually been sent. I received a message on my last one saying "Error; Token has expired".
Can you explain this to me please and tell me how I can send replies? I have wasted a lot of time.
Thank you Ericwood992.

Eric do you mean a PM Personal Message or just a reply to the thread you were reading? also if you click on FAQ at the top part of the page you will find all sorts of helpful stuff :)

The message "Error: Token has expired" is related to whatever means you are using to access the internet and this forum. Occurs lots on BlackBerries that either time out or lose the internet connection.

Could be a setting within your APP that is causing the time out and the disconnection to the forum and/or internet in general.

We do have an automatic "logoff" for users after 60 minutes have lapsed with no activity.

Never mind Eric. Join the club. Although I use computers a lot at work I still manage to bugger it up when I come on here.

Nah he decided we were too music-crazed for him. Or just crazed..which ever one prefers :p

(also as a side note is it just me or are a few of the smilies a little on the creepy side?)

Thank you - I don't find this as intuitive as I'd hoped, but I will persevere!

I'm here! Just been busy on other things, sorry!

Hello Krummhorn,
Thanks for getting back to me - I am using my "standard" laptop - please don't worry, it's almost certainly my lack of acumen, computerwise!

Hello Krummhorn or JHC (or whoever else can hepl me!),
I realise that I am probably one of the oldest and least computer knowledgeable in this site, but I am having real problems when I type a reply to posts and try to send them, still! I have just typed a long reply to Dorsetmike, (to his reply in "My introduction to jazz" thread), clicked on Post Quick Reply, and received another Error Token has Expired notice, my message will not go, I have tried closing down all windows except for this forum, reloading the page several times and attempting to resend the reply, and STILL I get the same Token has Expired error message.

Am I the only member getting these problems? Is it really me? What is the problem PLEASE?

Also, why only "Quick Replies" please? My reply to Dorsetmike is quite long (as long as the message he posted in reply to my "My introduction to jazz").

Regards,
Eric.

I'll challenge you on oldest, I'm 79 next March, however I've been with computers since the late 1970s

I must admit I've not seen the Token expired message so not sure what advice to give on that; "Quick Reply" is a simple editor with only a few options, like Bold, Italic, Underline, Font type, size and colour and a few icons for adding links and Quotes, the "Go Advanced" option below the Quick Reply window gives further options like attaching files, show/dont show signature, preview post and a few others.

Hello Everybody! I've just tried to send Dorsetmike my message again, and this time it worked!!! Thanks for whatever you did!!!

I worked out that you were two years older than me Mike, but what's two years between friends!! Glad I managed to send your message.

Regards,
Eric.

Do you have the same problem if you use the GO ADVANCED button. This allows you to add smillies, photos etc. But you do not have to use that facility. Just send in the normal way.

The problem could well be with your browser's "cache" being too full.

When this happens, your PC could be trying to operate with old/stale cookies. Best advice is to routinely dump your browser cache every so often.
I do this routinely every two weeks without fail. Our PC's are just like our cars - we have to change the oil to get rid of all the old mucky stuff - same is true with PC's, as they too need periodic maintenance to keep running in tip top shape.
