Latest PC problem, Mozilla Thunderbird.

It seems to be my month/quarter for annoying problems, the latest is Mozilla Thunderbird, it keeps changing the font size to the smallest available, I've tried changing settings in tools/options no joy!

I start to draft an Email, my first action is to increase text size (so I can read it!) Everything is fine until I have to go back to correct a spelling, add or delete text, when I return to the place I was at before the "deviation" text has shrunk back to barely visible and I have to set it back to what I had set previously. This gets a bit wearing, after the first couple of occurrences.

Anybody had similar problems? If so how did you fix it?

Ford Motors had the same Thunderbird problem, only offline, not online.
It started off being sporty, but got bloated with big chrome and "mirror look" bumper front ends.
Using the first nations "Thunderbird" as a commercial ploy is only inviting spiritual retribution.

Maybe you should yell "Geronimo" before you take a big click.

Not exactly helpful John, and it's still happening, I've gone through all the tools and options to no avail. And before anyone suggests I change to webmail, or some other package, I'm happy with Thunderbird except for this one aberration, it deals with multiple email addresses fine, I just want to fix it not change it for something I'm not familiar with I don't need another learning curve!

Mike,

There was a new release of Thunderbird in November. Did this start occurring after that update or are you using the older version?

Also, if your PC is a 64 bit machine, I do know that Thunderbird is incompatible - I tried to get T'Bird when I got this new 64 bit machine in late 2010, and found that out then. You are not alone in the frustration level with T'Bird and Win 7 ... most people have trouble running Thunderbird in Windows 7 unless they don't run it in compatibility mode. That might be something to check.

These machines are out to get the best of us every time ya know ... it took me two years to get used to Win 7 - I 'graduated' from XP - I still lose files occasionally only to find them when my fat fingers hit a certain unknown key combination and then ... poof ... there they are.

Hi Lars, yep, it started in November, I'm still running XP, it does most, if not all, that I want so why make Bill Gates any richer? Any suggestions for getting previous version of TB back?

Hi Mike,

Found a site with older versions of T'bird, some as recent as a couple months ago. It lists 'rev' letters and the dates they were issued.

I agree with not lining the pockets of Bill [Gates] any further ... I would use T'bird myself if not for the 64 bit issues, and I'm not about to downgrade my 64 bit machine to 32 bit - I love the extra capacity and speed of the 64 bits.

Mike, I have played around with a few and finished up where I started IE but now with version 9 which seems to be very stable on my PC but I run Vista.

Did that solve the issue, Mike? I mean, are you able to run T'bird normally now?

Seems to be OK, I've used options to set a larger font size which it seems to hold OK.

Just got to avoid updates for a while!
