*If a man wants God to hear his prayer quickly, then before he prays for anything else, even his own soul, when he stands and stretches out his hands towards God, he must pray with all his heart for his enemies. Through this action God will hear everything that he asks* -Abba Zeno-
*Protagoras: "Truth is subjective. What is true for you, and what is true for me, is true for me. Your opinion is true by virtue of its being your opinion."
*Socrates: "My opinion is: Truth is absolute, not opinion, and that you are in absolute error. Since this is my opinion, then according to your philosophy you must grant that it is true."

Just a shame they sing in Russian and not a more universally understood language.Lovely sound though, and impressive that in the audience it's standing room only!
Are you part of that choir?
Excellent David.. Nikam..in theOld Orthodox churches as a rule there is no seating: however in the Orthodox Cathedral there are pews.
....To play only what is written is the domain of science. To realize what is not written is the domain of art."

I wish you the Best for each day, now and always.

Simply amazing sound. Also, love the conductor's conducting![]()

Sorry to disappoint you - there are no pews in the cathedrals or churches in Russia - there can be some benches along the walls. This particular church is undergoing renovation so there were some chairs for people to sit on.
Yes, I am a part of that group...

The choir conductor studied with the Russian "majordomo" of choral conducting, whose name is Nikolai Matveev who was an Architect by profession! And our conductor is a practicing specialist of Internal Medicine also
Absolutely! Music is a universal language. In regards to the music we sang at that concert, it was based on the words found in the Liturgy and Psalms of the Orthodox Church. I'll be sending you a private message.

The Patriarchal Choir of Christ the Saviour Cathedral did a benefit concert last night with some very varied music, amongst which we sang a piece by Georgii Sviridov entitled "The Mysterious Nativity" - Here it is sung by the Kiev Chamber Choir "Credo":

Interesting how the changes in time signature are marked; more easily seen (IMO) than the method we are accustomed to.
