May he Rest in Peace. Yes I remember learning Take-five on the organ in my younger days. Interesting music and for me usually required alittle toddy to get it down..5/4, 7/4 's etc...LOL

I didn't have to see the news to know what happened,
I've been hearing so much Dave Brubeck all day.
And I think his ultimate timing was exuberantly timely.

a unique voice, and a real gentleman from what i've seen. I was never disappointed, when ever I listened to him.

Very sad indeed. Dave Brubeck showed what could be accomplished with a jazz quartet and also how to create an impressive body of music.
I recall the first time I heard his name mentioned. It must have been 1951 or 1952 and I was 14 or 15 at the time and an RAF guy I knew who was always collecting 78's showed me a sheet with the latest 78's available by mail order. He pointed to a recording going under the title of the Dave Brubeck Trio and said, "Watch this guy, he's going places." I of course looked at him with a raised eyebrow, as you do! But, whew! he was right on the money!
