I've got a reasonable collection of stuff from the 80's US swing revival such as Big Bad Voodoo Daddy,Indigo Swing,Squirrel Nut Zippers, Brian Setzer(Orchestra), Royal Crown Revue, Cherry Poppin Daddies plus others a friend in Denver CO put me onto this period of swing and i got hooked, other than Caro Emerald i'm not sure of which female artists are doing/have done this in recent years.
Can anyone tell me of more artists out there, and apart from Jools Holland and one or two others i can't think of many Brit acts.
I just love the whole smokey downtown jazz joint atmosphere of some of this .
Hope someone can suggest some stuff, love to chat about this.
I've got some Louis Jordan and Jimmy Liggins from further back, nice too. Scott.

umlietung! I'm still waiting for a "swing revival",
something with the Gene Krupa rhythm and dynamics.
If you're too embarrassed to look for "retro" music,
try the movie "The Mask", lots of big band double floor tom beatings.

There was this "Afro-American" musician, starting to lose some of his gigs,
seeing young guys with afros and dashikis with lots of percussion,
so he decided to visit his native Africa and refresh his roots.
As he got out of the plane he heard drums in the distance,
and he said to the stewardess, "I can hear the drums already",
and she said "You should be afraid when the drums stop".
In the cab on the way to town, he heard the sound of the drums,
and the cabbie said "You should be afraid when the drums stop".
Checking into his hotel, he could still hear drums in the air,
and the concierge said "You should be afraid when the drums stop".
When he went outside, unable to sleep, excited by the drumbeats,
he approached a traffic policeman, saying I can hear drums everywhere.
Why does everyone say "You should be afraid when the drums stop?"
The policeman said, "yes, it's very bad when the drums stop.
That's when you get a bass solo".
No skirlin' on that cruise.

I get confused when ii try to locate psots such as this one, i can't seem to grasp that they might move certain ones about, therefore needle and haystack and other such, and then i find a post that i missed such as above, so sorry for maybe not replying in a more timely fashion and thereby maybe being behind the times on this. Gotta get my act together and work it all out.
So even though contact has been established to a greater degree elsewhere i thank you for your commitment to the cause.
Happy days are here again and sometimes gone swiftly.Today the sun is shining although, sadly my partner's dad died this morning early so it's not so good.
More comms in future times.
