Hi gentlepeople and especially to my forum brother MusicTeach...

Just wanted to share a masterful solo in a soulful tune done by my Contrabass Trombone coach Ben van Dijk:

How can one not be inspired "to the bone" by such playing...?

Br. MusicTeach,

Thanx for such inspiration - I've always admired the Viennese Horn School. I remember attending several of Prof. Roland Berger's masterclasses in Hornplaying many years ago. Of course, he plays/played in the Vienna Phil and that, mind you, is no small feat. And the Vienna Horn is such a special instrument - quite different in many respects as compared to the F/Bb Horn of the world's orchestras today. I have a Vienna Horn in F made by Hans Pizka and an F/Bb Horn made by Lawson Horns and they are great to use when playing song repertoire and demonstrating the differences in sound.

Ah well, since I don't have "pokerface" I'll pass on playing poker:grin:

Hi CD and Musicteach,
The 'Ballade For Mr Roberts' is beautiful. It seems as if it is a tribute piece to bass trombonist George Roberts, ex Stan Kenton and many other orchestras.
The performance from St Michael's Church is equally enjoyable.

Mike, The street on the first one looked familiar to me. It is on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, one of the streets I tramp around often at the Jazz Festival. So, it has got a jazz connection!:) Enjoyed both clips.
