Dreams

You will recognise this from Shakespeare's "The Tempest"
Prospero:
Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits, and
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp'd tow'rs, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve,
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on; and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.

So I am asking,
Do you dream a lot ? I do and I get recurring themes one of them as follows:
I have driven somewhere parked the car and then walked a short distance to wherever it is that I was going then after a while I finish and return to the car, now this is where it gets scary I am not sure where I left the car and getting more frantic as I go to one place after the other in the end I can't find it and wake up

The Chinese say that only ill people dream, meaning that if you are well you do not remember your dreams. My dreams often feauture places or people I know.

Never heard that one before teddy interesting, it seems to contradict itself i,e if only ill people dream then healthy people don't, so they do not remember a dream that they never had??
I thought all people and animals dream (I know my Cats do) but not all people remember their dreams, and that it is the subconscious sorting out what is useful and what to discard etc. In your dreams with the people you know is it never in a place that is unknown to you?

Well people also dream an average of three times a night, but do not tend to remember their dreams. Dreams can be measured by REM, Rapid Eye Movement, which occurs while people are dreaming. Most dreams do not actually last long, even if they seem to go on and on. The psychosis which can occur through lack of sleep is now actually blamed on lack of dreams.

So that could be Mikes problem he can't sleep because he is not dreaming ?

Both Dogs and Cats perform extraordinary leg and face movements in sleep just as if (in the case of Dogs) they are reliving the chase.

No. He can't dream because he is not sleeping.

My dog used to woof and twitch his legs when asleep.....or was that the wife?

I only occasionally dream, I went through a period of nightmares many years ago. I can't remember the last time I woke up remembering my dream.

Some dreams can be very realistic the one I mentioned in my opening post is one such dream, now a few days ago I was in a small village doing some shopping before I had to collect my wife when I realised that I had cut it a bit fine so headed back to the car but it had gone (help) then I realised that I could have parked it further up the street but no luck, I thought to myself "so this is what the dreams were warning me about" after a indeterminable amount of time I decided to go into a shop and phone her to say I would be late but all the shops had closed ? getting a bit worried now as it was getting dark. Then I woke up.
Am I really sick??????

No I don't believe you are sick Colin. I am not sure there is always a reason for a dream.

We tend to try and analyse our dreams, I am not sure that is always a good idea.

Knowing how you love cars Colin it could be linked to a fear of losing your car permanently. ie not being able to drive. I occasionally dream about various cars I have owned but they are always good dreams. Usually pertaining to how the cars handled or performed.

@teddy Had a new battery fitted by my local garage and a couple of start ups later the Air Bag warning light decided to stay on so after a few checks I decided to book in at my nearest dealer (2 1/2 hrs away) told them what the problem was and all was arranged.
Arrived about 10:30am they gave me a loan car so we did a bit of a tiki tour and shopping. gave them a ping after a couple of hours and they said it was finished and they just needed to price the invoice so we made our way back. expecting a bill of around $100 I fished out my visa card and was surprised to see it was only $48. Ha Ha the fault was a sensor unit which they did not have in stock also they found the rear dampers were leaking, again no parts in stock but would be 10 days X Germany? they gave me a detailed quote $1255 + another journey. Happiness is......................

Somebody hit my car yesterday and drove off. No point in claiming off the insurance so I will be £2/300 out of pocket for nothing. I hate the ****** who do that sort of thing.

Oh - "Hit and Run" eh? Blast those brigands.............

I can claim without losing my no claims discount, but that will not stop them puting my premiums up.!!!!!!!
Unless it is a very expensive job it is not worth claiming, what with having to pay the first £200. excess.

OK, we have similar but we are allowed free windscreen replacement some of our roads can be a bit rough in places and stones get thrown up, very very bad if you are stuck behind a truck, and worse if you have the hood down and the truck is carrying stock. phewwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Dreaming here again about Varese Poeme Electronique, or was I listening wait

So, I swung by Ayers Rock again last weekend. Haven't been there in a while. Visited an old friend Rolf Harris and a opule of kangaroos and also had the chance to attend a classical concert in backoburke. Some Mozart, some Ravel and also a strange piece by post-post-modernist Occher composer Barry me mate Mckenzie. It started out like an ordinary piano beer bar tune, but soon...

wink.gif

... wait... what the.... excuse me...might have to postpone that suddenly I'm sunbaking on the beach with John Cage.............

wink.gif

... okay I'm back. The strangest thing just happened. I... oh...

wink.gif

... okay, back again. So, how's everybody doing out there? wait i'm outside shed in my back paddock , summer a bitch today its 110f here today.........there it is again...

Sorry 'bout that. Ah that's what I dreamed- all my favourite composers heading for the stars and the others a giant black hole.....

At least with a BMW Colin you can switch on the auto climate control and filter system and with the hood up, all the smells disappear. Provided you change the filters reularly
