Ah Prez!! I got that one on a 78 along with a some others when I must have been 12 years old. In the winter evenings in my room with a 'wind up' gramophone, growing up to the sound of Prez. He seemed to be always relating a particular story. I lived opposite the school and I was usually the last one in. Often I would be a bit later and I would be reprimanded, I often felt the urge to tell that teacher that if he had heard the stories Prez was laying down on tenor last night he would be late as well!!:)

This one one i have posted before but have no hesitation in doing so again, one of my all time favourite Prez solo's. It has often been repeated in concert recordings over the years by many others, such as Scott Hamilton/Harry Allen/ Warne Marsh etc, the list goes on. They all learned it note for note. It was that good!!

Sorry stu, didn't mean to post a Ted Heath track immediately after Prez! This seems almost sacrilegious! Prez is a legend and we should have a thread for him alone IMO. He stands alone in jazz. He made the most wonderful sounds ever to come out of a saxophone.

Here he is again; what a sound! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxZ3r1LGA4Q

Very nice and unusual arrangement of Honeysuckle Rose, Mike. I tried to google for information as to who the altoist was but no luck.
