Old comedy and nonsense songs

Yeah, it's funny how some of the songs I still sing to myself came from my childhood.
Some are from being in the choir of a church my parents were founding and charter members of,
some are from little records we had and others are from AM transistor radios girls had during recess.
Most of them are from TV shows and movies.
"The Rocket Song", with the memorable line "watch out Johnny, don't fall out".
"The Days of Wine and Roses", singing this in line at banks with my parents usually disturbed someone.
"Brighten the Corner Where You Are", an old choir favorite (I was watt-bulb) that still makes some elderly members laugh.
"The Leader of the Pack", back when I could give girls rides on my banana seat.
"The Flying Purple People Eater", because I ate a lot of the gum.

Hey! This suddenly has turned from being a nostalgia trip into a now symposium.
I can now see I had a predisposition to liking Jimi Hendrix, flying purple to purple haze.
And banana seats to banana splits is just so appropriate.
