Why take so long?

13 days ago a fatal road accident occurred near here in which a number of cars hit a young scooter rider who died. The first car to hit her did not stop to wait for police, but drove off, they know the make and model and colour, not many about meeting the description, yet it has taken until now for the authorities to decide to go and question all owners of vehicles matching the description; why should it take so long?????????? It's no longer rocket science to trace a vehicle. By now the vehicle could be out of the country, repaired or crushed. It's not a cheap car either so the owner could probably afford to make it worth someone's while to dispose of it.

There is a reward of £5K out for "information leading to blah blah blah" they should have been knocking doors within a day or two.

How sad Mike that someone died. I don't understand how anyone can knock someone down and not stop. The time it took for the police to decide to question possible suspects is ridiculous, they should have been on the case the same day or at least the next.

I hope they catch the driver soon.

The way it's been plastered on the front page of the local paper almost every day since and now this headline "We're coming to get you" I felt like adding "now that you've had time to dispose of the evidence".

It obviously was not some one important who was killed, such as someone from an ethnic minority etc. Sick, isn't it

Well they finally caught him, they have arrested a 58 year old bloke form Ashford Kent and charged him with causing death, leaving the scene and driving while disqualified!!!

They impounded the vehicle too, they checked about 1,000 cars. Hope he gets at least 10 years locked up with Bubba and have to pay the family a lot of £thousands, although money can never replace a life.

They will probably tell him not to be a naughty boy and ban him.......again. Don't expect them to be hard on criminals do you Mike?

But he's a motorist, they're fair game to law enforcement; however given the feelings round here, he might not get in and out of court without serious injury!

It's now come to light that he has also been charged twice more with driving while disqualified within the last few weeks. Also he is a Health and Safety consultant - very safety conscious - I don't think!

What is the point of disqualification if it's ignored to this extent, I would have thought after the first driving while disqualified offence, impound the car for the duration of the ban or lock him up, or find some other means of enforcing the ban if the car is not his own or is needed by another driver in the family.

Sorry Mike, you are trying to use common sense. The police and the law are not interested in using common sense when it comes to dealing with criminals. Mind how you go now.
