Went to plant some lavender seeds today. Three years ago I raised 120 seedlings from one packet. Today, same supplier and same price, there were barely 30 seeds in the packet. Hows yhat for inflation.

Digging the garden today. Back aches, legs ache, shorth of breathe. Then a Robin comes down and takes a worm from the end of my fork. Ahhhhh

Sad to say no vegetables in the garden this year (apart from me). So much to do we do not have the time. Add to that the fact that everything seems to be doing so badly this year plus we will be away for a while in the Summer we are concentrating on trying to get the garden straight again.

My idea of gardening these days Mike concerns a bottle of wine, and pointing at the things that need doing.

I turned my veg garden into grass 5 years ago too labour intensive, still have a green house for Tomatoes etc.

There is nothing like fresh fruit and veg from your own garden. Truly organic, but too much work this year. I am pushing on with my plans for a beehive and then I can watch them being busy.

We have two Nashi Trees which are prolific fruiters but it is a race between us the birds and the wasps not to mention the local kids

Fascinating plant Colin. I have heard of Chinese Pears but never seen them. Sounds wonderful.

Yes it is too good for it's own good so to speak, could spray the fruit with manure (evil little grin appears) that would stop the kids now for the Waspybirds......

I can't wait until we get our farmer's market open. This place is weeks late
on opening.

We have been assured that everything will be more expensive this year.

Coming to the end of May and we are still lighting fires. Cold and drab outside and at least the coal fire gives some warmth and cheer. Grass wants cutting but it has been too wet to try.
