Surely with all the modern scientific equipment we have it must be possible to totally analyse a violin (X rays scanners ultrasonics etc) so as to know its exact dimensions including the thickness of the wood in various places and even the make up and thickness of the glue and varnish, or lacquer or whatever.

It has been done teddy but what I found amazing was the report that pro violinists could not pic out the sound of a strad makes you wonder

I see symphonies a hundred years from now, only different, like life will be after these worst of times have brought us all down.
I see lots of players with acoustic guitars sitting around the classical musicians who have kept instruments,
with lots of scribes rewriting old pieces for the new instrumentation.
Cultural historians who can dig up a carbon fiber instrument will have a side demonstration,
but won't be allowed to join performances, being said to be from the dark side of our past.

JHC! I've heard all the different reasons why a Stradivarius can be seen as different or special,
but one thing that doesn't get talked about a lot is how Stradivarius got his wood,
searching around abandoned castles to get the most aged and least likely to warp.

And then the atheistic/agnostic "besserwissers" in the theoretical physics community present the "Big Bang" theory as their own but it was a Catholic priest named George Lemaitre who came up with the idea in the first place! Frankly, mefeels they are getting bogged down in the smallest of details(Sub-atomic particles)and losing themselves in the process, losing sight of the Big Picture - Not able to see the forest because of the trees.
