I think it is getting older that has the effect, we just don't find change easy perhaps 3 score years and ten was pretty near the mark. any way I am of to listen to Liszt Piano sonata with a glass of red and then bed.

Thats probably what drove him mad.

We have already seen the results of tampering with the food chain (mad cow disease). We also know the dangers of releasing chemicals into the food chain for instance via water sources. How can anyone condone GM food without very long lasting test where there is no risk to the population.

I do not like the thought of GM food, there is no telling what it can do to us. They may not know for years to come if there are any nasty side effects. I have never knowingly eaten GM food and I will do my best not to. I suppose the only way to be sure the food you eat is nsafe is to grow your own. Unfortunately that is not always possible, most people have to rely on the food they buy.

Marge, I think compulsory labelling of all food giving: source of origin, ingredients and of course if it does contain GM products it must make this clear, now will they do this??? I think it will be resisted every step of the way.

I think you are right Colin, if the food was properly labelled at least we would have a choice. I don't like having things like this forced on me, I should be able to say whether I would like to eat GM foods or not.

At the moment the red tractor label assures us that it was produced in Britain. Will it also assure us that it is GM free?

GB Have at last banned one of the insecticides that may be responsible for the demise of so many bees. It will be a two year ban to test results. GOOD TO SEE SOMETHING BEING DONE. they must be worried to take these steps.

GM food is being hailed as the solution to world poverty. It is quite possible that countries struck by famine might be glad of it. But with most of those countries it is lack of water which is the cause. What next. GM modified water?

Good point teddy but I'd still like to see it. What's next plastic food!

You are both on the right track ... ever watch the movie Soylent Green?
Although it was made in 1973 it is forecasting what could happen by the year 2022, which isn't that far off now.

I believe that what the movie depicts is pure fiction, and would never happen ... or ...

Good Old Soylent Green with Charton Heston if I remember right, they made us watch it in school - not sure why maybe there where trying to turn us into greenie/ conservationists, as some sort of social statement!

Remember it well Lars, especially the scene in the euthanasia chamber. Truth is stranger than fiction.
