Friends Reunited, which is free to join also have a sister genealogy site which I believe is reasonably priced. Might be worth a look.

This reminds me that I have a box full of family photos. Most of them I recognise but my maternal grandmother had twelve siblings and there are photos of my great grandparents which I have no knowledge of. Unfortunately anyone who might be able to name them is long dead. Gives one a sad feeling.

Going to the site that you mentioned led me to others but the free ones are no good I will have to hold on for a while
teddy I have been scanning a lot of old B&W pics and they turn out OK if you use the edit/fix feature in 'Windows photo gallery'

This is a pic from c.1964 in NZ (our first picnic in NZ) the print size was approx 2 x 2.5 inches I can blow it up to fit my PC monitor 24 inch and it looks just as sharp as a digital.

My Wife tells me that it was in England just before we left so once again I am showing signs of De Mentia

I was really just showing that the resolution of the old, small B&W prints is quite good the tinting I have now corrected

Methinks De Mentia is not a fair descriptor - Methinks your wife "busted your jaw" instead, aka Tongue-Fu...

Think of Kung-Fu...Disabling an opponent by words(tongue-fu) instead of physical force.............

Yes Colin, it has come up well with none of the defects you would expect from an old B&W negative. I used to play around with a 400 ASA film and fire it off at 1250 ASA then overdevelop to compensate. This produced extreme blacks and whites. Very atmospheric.
