Windows 8 is not being well received

Adobe could be joining them in the foot shooting

Pay for a monthly licence to use their products just so you get it updated all the time. People with no internet connection will just have to soldier on with the current release and not get any new bells and whistles.

Evidently you can get a single product licence for less per month, but it still sounds like a con trick. Plus they will be continuing with their unfair pricing policy whereby we in UK pay about 50% more than USA customers, and if we try to by from Amazon.com instead of Amazon.co.uk it gets blocked. In the past they have claimed translation costs as a reason for higher pricing, I always thought we supposedly spoke the same language in UK as in USA with a few minor spelling differences

Mind you it doesn't bother me at all, I don't use any Adobe products apart from freeby Flash Player which some sites call for, I don't need Reader for PDFs, plenty of clones about for that.

Precisely why I will keep my Windows 7 machines. If it ain't broke, no need to fix it ... and until Win 7 totally craps out and ceases to function, I will keep on using it.

My last PC was Windows XP (Service Pack 3) ... still have a laptop with Win XP that continues to work fine ... I never bought into Vista, thank goodness. Sounds like Win 8 is another "vista" for Microsoft.

'Twould seem that Microsloth have seen a gliimer of light, an update scheduled for late June should bring back the start button and more conventional screen for those that want it. I also read that about 40% of PCs worldwide are still running XP (that includes me) so there are also rumours that updates will continue after the proposed end of support next year. If you subtract Linux users from the remaining 60% (and any users of 98 or even 3.1) that doesn't say much for the more recent editions.

As for Photoslop, I could never see how Adobe could justify their pricing, I've used most versions of Micrografx Picture Publisher since getting V 2 bundled with a scanner, subsequent upgrades up to V 8 came on CDs on covers of magazines, the only one I actually paid for without a magazine attached was V10, downloaded for $23, long out of production, Corel bought out Micrografx and buried it. It still does all I want and more; after over 20 years and newer versions I've climbed the learning curve, so why change!

I am still using XP. If it ain't broke...... I suppose I will have to upgrade at some time but ever since Vista I have been nervous about jumping into something which proves unsuitable.

I hear what you're saying about British access to American internet, and being blocked about .com and .uk.
That's what it's like in Ontario, the only Canadian province with internet like that.
I had to sign permissions for a computer company in the United States to monitor me,
before they would let my new Canon scanner work online.
I mentioned this to Bell tech in New Brunswick, and they thought I misunderstood,
until they got back to me saying thank you, I was right.

I'm still using what was going to be tossed and what I was given,
with a new scanner and camera I got later.
And I'm still working with wood, glues and finishes to redefine my guitar.
