Well thank you guys for such a warm welcome! John, I haven't had a lot of time to collect jokes about the pier (only been here in California for a year or so now), but that is my new favorite.

musicteach- I do play some instruments. Studied piano performance up through the masters- now I'm a pianist-gone-rogue and I play my own wild music in local clubs, libraries, theaters.

Last but not least, I really enjoy Krummhorn's quote. Makes me feel that I need to work harder.

Give me some good tips. I'm overwhelmed by forums sometimes (and farmer's markets, what's up with that?). Hold my hand.

Hmmm I dunno about all of that. Help sure...but I don't hold hands except with my wife or my own kids! I tell ya like I tell my students...I don't get paid enough to babysit ;)

You don't wanna hold my farmer's market hand, usually sticky with unpasteurized buckwheat honey.

Oddly enough, you're saying you've only been living in California for a couple of years,
and yesterday, at the library, I bumped into a drummer friend who moved there and stayed.
He was visiting his mother and was using the library computers to look for me,
when I saw him and was standing behind him.
He went to a music college and they hired him after he graduated.
This is somewhere outside L.A.

Anyway, it's nice that you play wild music.
My best advice? Listen to Electric Ladyland on headphones, relaxing in the dark.

Alright I'll refrain from the hand holding. I'll also realize quickly that I need to change the font color....

Listening to Electric Ladyland now.

Done. Also, a small tip for the future - it's best if you use the "automatic" font option (you can select it from the drop down menu, after clicking on the "A" icon). That way, the text will show up as black in the reply window (with white background) and switch to white after you send the post (that's when the background color changes to blue (is it blue? I'm not good with colors ;))).

Also, welcome to the forum
