Stephen Fry is an expert word smith but you can take it too far, a language must evolve or die I can sympathise with his horror over what is being done to the English language the worst examples being those Radio and TV presenters that corrupt and make English just about unintelligible to those of the preceding generation............I could go on but that is my comment Mike

Pleasure to listen to him. Being a fan of Lynne Truss gives me some grounding for this type of pronouncement. I also admired Ronnie Barker for his way with words, albeit on a different track.

That was the most light and medium Helvetica that I've seen for a long time.
That was the font for the Province of Ontario, but that changed.

I can understand English people who think the English language is theirs, and bemoan it changing.
It's become the prophesied global language, what Sons and Daughters of the Gael worked hard for.
Most of the English and BBC advertising I see through American media is about English having a superior accent.
I know English people think of themselves as having many different accents for cities and neighbourhoods.
That kind of corporate English language talk is what is going to have to change,
not only for global markets, but for the global citizens who moved there and move around.
I can hear some tut-tuts out there somewhere, maybe even a couple of by your leaves.

Here in North America, there were tribes of natives with lives of such ease and good health,
they actually didn't talk just to talk, they always spoke in rhymes or started to sing in groups.

I really liked the Stephen Fry word video. It had some subtle uses of word placements.
Here's another video by a famous writer, showing "the shape of books" and how to write them.
His graphics are just hand-drawn, if that's okay. 17 minutes long.
