My Album

Hey everyone.

As you all probably figured out by now, I am a pianist. I busk at a restaurant/cafe. Luckily the resturant/cafe has an electric piano there, a nice spot at the boat harbour. I have a repoitoire of approx 17 songs which I know by memory and takes about an hour and a bit to run through once.

Ok, now to the point, on a Sunday about a month ago now, there was a producer there who saw my talent and invited me to his studio. The producer is from a company called "Air Time Records" which is also based in London. He reckons I can make an album of 12 songs, of which 2 should be my own composition. I will have no problem doing 10 already known songs.

So there you have it, going to make an album of my playing. The album cost $25AUS each, what ever the conversion is I don't have a clue.

Making an album wont be easy, it means recoding the songs at optimal performance level. So it means practicing the song over and over again, basically so you can read a book whilst playing.

The producer was impressed when he saw me talking and playing Moonlight Sonata to the one lady.

I started the recording yesterday, was quite hard to get it perfect, no songs to keep yet! But he said that the 4 hours that I was there he could hear that I have improved. He reckons I could record the songs all in a space of a month. I will see what happens, and notify you on any changes.

Cheers
Gareth

Hey, that sounds great, Gareth! :)

Best of luck with the project- I knew all that playing at the cafe would pay off for you!

Why don`t you tell us what works/songs you play- if that`s not giving away to much info...:)

Hey Rojo, thanks for your reply.

I don't know exactly what songs will go on the album but here is a list which I think is going on the album.

Sonatina in G major - Beethoven
Fur Elise - Beethoven
Moonlight in C# minor - Beethoven (If I can get it completed in time)
The Entertainer - Scott Joplin
Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton
Song for guy - Elton John
Sonata no 1 - Mozart (Hopefully if I can get it done in time)
Unchained Melody - Hy Zaret
2 of my own compositions.
Prelude in E minor - Chopin.
2 part inventions no1 - Bach.

As I said before these might be the ones that would be recorded. I finally got a good copy of Fur Elise that he was happy with, it still isn't the 'masterpiece' that would go on the album, but close to it anyway.

Cheers
Gareth

I have done quite alot, none are the really good pieces, except for the waltz that I have just finished composing. I think it is my best piece so far. So when are you going to be putting recorded songs on your site???

Well, you`re way ahead of me in the composing department then- haven`t done much myself...for shame...

Thanks for asking :) I`m stuck at the moment, at trying to find the right software. I tried some freeware- no way. So now I`m checking out the more advanced stuff. Slowly but surely, I`ll get there...

What software have you tried?
I think the best stuff is definitely what you have to pay for.. there's only so much you can get for free :)
