Living dangerously?

Why would anybody in their right mind choose to live in a residential caravan (trailer) on a riverbamk site (trailer park) which regularly gets flooded in heavy rain or high tides, they have been evacuated twice recently including at 4am Christmas morning. They complain about having all their posessions ruined and expect the council or "somebody" to install flood defences (which they would probably then complain about spoiling the view)

I shudder to think what their insurance premiums must be - assuming they can find an insurance company to accept the risk.

I also wonder how or why the site operator was able to get planning permission

It seems a few cars were caught out as well, I think house prices must fall for properties close to the shore and will become uninsurable, thank goodness I only have a Volcano in my back yard

Actually I love that number and I tried to find a clip with the Shearing quintet but had to settle for this another favourite which takes me back to when I first got an interest in jazz. They just don't do it like this any more.

I don't know. Free heating and still some people complain. Think what people are paying for Lava lamps these days,

I do live about 100 metres from the Wanganui River and it does flood in the Winter but so long as the down stream bridges don't get blocked it will not be a problem here it is as per normal in our winter.

The fools that approve those building sites ought to have their heads examined. Where we live there are 'flood plains' areas and if a house is in or near those defined areas, the homeowner is required by law to have flood insurance no matter the cost.

These planners are probably related to the guy who rammed into the side of a school bus here and than told the officer "I didn't see it" ... uhuh ... a 40 foot yellow wall 10 feet high and they didn't see it ... uhuh .

Beautiful place to live Colin..great view. I look into the woods and hills in background and a large creek about 500 feet from me . Love nature and watching it.

Yes Bill they can keep the coastal views as far as I am concerned give me the country any day, I wake up with the dawn chorus no need for an alarm clock, the sounds of the country side are in continual change week by week.
To think I used to be a city boy? I must have been insane. can you post some pics of your neck of the woods.
