YT Bitrate?

Youtube seems to be the default media of sharing on MIMF so I have a question relating to the very low quality sound aka bit rate of the audio:
I suspect that the bit rate in general for music is 128kbps which may be ok for PC listening, how can you find the bit rate of a UT video I have gone to "Stats for nerds" on each video this gives a bit of info but not the band width.

Colin,

In the past I've added "&fmt=18" to the end of the YT url, and it has helped the audio considerably. I notice lately though that this setting is not always available on every YT that's available.

Is seems that YT has adopted a new tool that increases the video bitrate, which in turn also increases the quality of the sound. The caveat there is if one has enough power/memory to download/play those higher bitrates.

For all my recordings that I make on my Zoom H-4 I use 256 bit setting in MP3 format. WAV format is better, but it is also a memory hog, and consumes bunches of space on my SD card making it necessary to download it more often. I usually record a months worth of church services before performing the dump and editing/production of those recordings.

Thanks Lars, I am really only concerned with the d/l process I have googled my question without much revealing itself, it would appear that the higher the Visual quality when uploaded the higher the audio bit rate but only upto 192kbps if I have understood correctly??
but I still don't know how to find the actual bit rate of each video.

Ah at last..you have to do it on the downloaded video...... right click on it..........click properties....then details and there you find all the tech,on the video... I have windows 8.1 if that makes a difference.

Thanks Bill but I have tried that if you do it on the short cut you just get mp4 etc no actual bit rate, what I am after is for example the audio info say 128kbps or 192kbps or 350kbps etc the reason is that I want to make a demo CD to show the difference between the various rates when compared to a WAV file.
PS you can right click on YT site when video is playing and get the following info under "info for Nerds" but it does not give the audio bit rate.

On mine I get an audio: bit rate, channels, audio sample rate as well as video info...now this info comes after I have downloaded it to my computer..not on youtube site.

@Bill....OK, I cracked it, I had to convert to mpeg then all was revealed so far 128kbps is the highest that I have d/l.
