How different age groups react to new technology

This is an interesting quote by the late Douglas Adams, wonder what the forum makes of it...

“I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.”

Saw something the other night on television that translated the spoken language. It looked like it could be an I phone or something similar and allow you to converse with another person merely by talking into it and them it would translate your speech into the spoken language. When they replied it translated their speech back into English. With the way this country is going we will all need one soon. Anyone know anything about it?
