Hello everyone,

I have been listening to a lot of Mozart - his childhood works and some of the piano Sonatas. I've also been studying various performances of the Chopin Preludes - Cortot, Pogorelich and others - I view the Preludes as being Chopin's choicest works - not as 24 pieces comprising the Opus 28 but moreso as one work in 24 movements - his body, mind and soul. That's just how I hear them. I think the glorious posthumous Op. 45 Prelude in C# minor is a little Scriabin-like. It was said of Liszt that he hurled his lance into the future. When you consider Chopin's 2nd Prelude, I'd say Chopin hurled his lance further afield. Anyway, just a thought - and i may change tomorrow!! I think andre Gide adored them too. They always make me think of gardenias and the rain.

Can I share my website with you:

I hope you enjoy it! And it's so very good to see so many folk sharing beautiful thoughts about music.

Our Diva at the Royal Opera in Copenhagen is the fantastic swedish sopran Sjöberg, I will recommend this singer with my local symphonics - it is pure delight.

Mahler - Das Lied von der Erde.

I must have heard this about 100 times by now, and I am still moved. It is the only work in my collection that I on purpose bought three different versions off. Tonight I played the one with Fischer-Dieskau taking on the parts usually reserved for the alto, James King and the Wiener Philharmoniker under Bernstein.

Dare I ask if someone plays the brahms op 122 (last opus)? I have only heard them in Busonis pianoarrangement. Strange and very beautyfull music.

here the Nottingham spins 33rpm and Paul Jacobs plays some of the opus 122!
