What classical music did you listen to today?

Petr Eben: "Musica Dominicalis." And hello to you too Corno Dolce. When I wrote that

the air destroyed me, I meant that it touches me deeply. Destroy is the blues musicians

slang for that. No offense though, I'm glad not to be the only Messiaen lover around.

Cheers Peter

Louis Spohr "Octet," and "Nonet".
Well now that's something; I was going to suggest (in my usual jocular manner) listening to the next logical selection, which would be a work for 10 players  (although I have no idea whether Spohr wrote a work for 10.) But then I couldn't think of the term for a work for 10 players.....

I've looked around, and apparently the term 'dectet' has been used, but not often, and the word is not in the dictionary anywhere. I'll keep my eyes open for more info on this.

On topic, lately it seems to be classical music on tv. But I'm not watching, so I don't know who all the artists are, nor which works. I definitely heard Yehudi Menuhin though, and also the slow movement of Brahms' 3rd.

Organ music. Was the page-turner at my teacher's concert. The program:

J.S. Bach: "Komm heiliger Geist, Herre Gott (BWV 651)", and "Komm Gott

Schöpfer, heiliger Geist" (BWV 667), Olivier Messiaen: "Messe de la

Pentecôte," and "Le Banquet Celéste," and finally Charles Tournemire: "Deux

Fresques Symphoniques Sacrées, nr. 2". It was a great concert and great

music, although "Messe de la Pentecôte" is bound to leave the page turner

bathed in sweat:D

Mahler - Symphony No.4 played by our very own Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Alexander Rahbari.Special thanks to Rahbari not only for the magnificent Mahler interpratation but also being such a caring about music of Istanbul which is being sacrificed in the political games.
