Judy, as always, shows incredible insight and thoughtfulness and is an example for us all. When we espouse words of wisdom, they seldom come with the innocence and lack of self-indulgence she displays, for which I'm grateful. Goodness, it's all Frederik's fault!! Had he not had the brain storm and "invented" this community ALL of our lives would be darker I think.

Gee thanks! I'm still a Methodistgirl. The Methodist church is somewhat
different than some of the other protestant churches. Look up John
Wesley and how he got the church started. His Biography should tell
you something.

Thanks CT and I agree with everything in your post. And thank you too, Judy. I will look up John Wesley and do some research. Yesterday I watched a lot of videos about Islam, just to try and educate myself. I would like to know something about as many religions and cultures as possible. That is part of what makes life so interesting.

It was supposed to have an image, not a stupid ad for another website. When I added it I saw the image, but it disappeared overnight. Sorry.

Yeah, it is a little macabre. I was hoping to be able to use an animated gif file, but alas...

I also figured I would play around with images for a while until I find something I really like.

Mine, not surprising, was taken by me on the one occasion the illustrious Robert Ampt allowed me and a friend on a personalised tour of the insides of the monster (Grand Organ, Sydney Town Hall). If you snoop around here you'll find a link to a sound byte of it's lowest two octaves.

Judy, quite like Luther (who remained Catholic up until his death). Wesley remained Anglican (Church of England) all his life and early Methodism was considered a sub-branch of Anglicanism. I'll have to do a lot more research on Methodist theology I see. We had a great abandonment happen here in the 1970s and a lot of smaller church groups (methodists included) joined forces and became the Uniting Church.

If it wasn't for John Wesley England where he was would have starved.
His new method of teaching and preaching is what made the First United
Methodist. He broke off from the Church of England and Luthern church
and began to teach the bible. Today we have many missionaries that go
to all nations of the world and do the same. There is one thing about
Methodist preachers. They love to sing and love music. I guess that
is why I belong to this forum now. This was just the church for me.
Other churches lacked some of the things that we need most is to
have compassion and help our fellowman when in need. We don't make
big issues out of molehill things like different races, gay people, or other
issues that are really molehills that have been made into mountains.

Judy, excepting that I'm basically an athiest ... I'd convert to methodism if it were still around here, which, sadly it's not.

hi people. i'm interested. what sin are we talking about? i'm aware i'm coming out of the blue but let's see anyway what's happening here

Well love the sinner not the sin is a typical comment a "christian" or "catholic" whatever would make because it justifies their beliefs without abandoning their dogma. It's a bit like having your cake and eating it. Sorry, C5, no offence to you.
