Moving MIMF to a new server

MIMF is being moved to a new server. Talk Classical has already been moved and it is working like a charm. However, MIMF needs a big software upgrade before it can be moved, and I expect it will take place today.

So there will be some downtime in the coming days due to the software upgrade, and the server move itself, but when it is done MIMF should run better than ever :)

Best regards,
Frederik

Indeed, Talk Classical is really fast on the new server. A very noticeable difference in response times when perusing and posting.

Looking forward to that happening here on MIMF as well.

Thank you :tiphat: Frederik, for the enhancements.

At last the Skype logo is showing, for a long time it was just an empty box, I thought it was me.

The way I feel at the moment I would not be surprised

It's hard to imagine this domain being any nicer.
I always describe it as feeling symphonic, so many things to wave your fingers at,
and click, like clicking the baton against the stand.
And considering that over 96% of these domain functions are unknown and unused by me,
that's really getting as symphonic as I can be.
Thank you, everyone, for your gracious hospitality.

Thank you, John Watt for your kind words.

I too am amazed at how everything works together in harmony. I can also view the site 'behind the scenes' which is just as fascinating.

Both of our forums are operating at great access speeds now that we are on the new server. Solid State drive too helps things move along quicker and with more reliability. We still have many options that we might be able to incorporate in the coming years.

Oh! The last time I came across some Hydro executives outside for a smoke,
I ended up getting invited to enter the Queenston-Lewiston Generating Station,
and go into a room with an armature section while it was spinning.
But something tells me seeing this domain from "behind the scenes",
would be more fascinating.
I could touch the armature, letting my hand rest on it,
but I couldn't feel it move, even if the air was full of static.
Something tells me your editing, or moderating,
could generate just as much static.

A major Canadian online domain name host, hosting johnwatt.ca for eight years,
listened to me, and let me send them an email with attachments,
so I could show them all the improper domain hosting I've had over the years.
Bell mailed me a rebate cheque and I can't buy any Bell services,
because of the problems I created within their corporation after much interference,
or monetized and politicized, and I say criminalized, activity by Bell employees,
to interfere with an election in Welland, Ontario.
Whether that prompted them to provide domains, I'm not sure, but I'm loving it.
Both Bell and COGECO use the same "Easy Wizard Pro" domain builders,
what I know how to use, and this new domain host also uses it, very nice for me.

I just typed that so you could see how I can function, working the phone.

I agree with that in respect to the new ones that have come out in the last couple years.

I own a clam-shell type mobile phone - it has all that I need to make calls, store phone numbers, and take the odd picture or two, and send/receive text messages.
I don't need the other 'stuff' to add to an already complicated life.

The only time my phone is switched on is when we are in the car touring it is only an emergency tool.

Force of habit makes me carry my phone all the time although I have changed my number so I don't get pestered by the companies I used to deal with. I am just upgrading to a smart phone so the solicitors I freelance for can reach me by e mail easily. It will be a new learning curve for me and I may have to employ a five year old to help me operate it
